Our Legacy: Six Generations of Family Farming and Ranching

At the heart of our ranch is a legacy that stretches back to 1894, when our patriarch, Charles Jones, left Illinois to settle in what Grant calls the mini sandhills. What began as a modest farm has grown into a six-generation operation. Over the decades, we’ve stayed true to our roots, but we’ve also embraced change—adapting and evolving alongside the land.

From Hereford to Angus: A Journey of Growth

The original focus of our operation was Hereford cattle. These hardy and reliable animals were the backbone of our ranch for generations. But as times changed and the market evolved, so did we. Over time, we transitioned to Angus cattle, renowned for their superior quality and efficient production. This shift reflected not only the changing needs of the industry but also our continued commitment to excellence in everything we do.

A New Chapter: Becoming an Angus Seedstock Operation

The most significant change came in 2007 when Grant, the next generation to take the reins, made a bold move. He purchased his first registered Angus heifer, marking the beginning of our transition into a full-fledged Angus seedstock operation. This was a turning point that allowed us to focus on maternal performance genetics, helping improve the quality of cattle not just for ourselves, but for other ranchers across the country.

A Commitment to Maternal Performance Genetics

Today, we are proud to say that the genetics we’ve carefully developed over the years are still alive and well on the ranch. Our commitment to producing high-quality seedstock has helped us build long-lasting relationships with customers who share our dedication to excellence. We aren’t just raising cattle; we’re raising the next generation of top-tier livestock that will continue to impact the industry for years to come.

Looking Ahead…

As we continue to grow and evolve, we’re excited about what the future holds. Our operation is a blend of rich history and modern innovation, where the lessons of the past shape our approach to today’s challenges. Our goal is to provide ranchers with the finest maternal performance genetics available, ensuring that our legacy lives on, not just in the cattle we raise, but in the people we work with.

We look forward to being your trusted source for Angus and SimAngus genetics, and we’re excited to work alongside you as we continue this journey together.
